Dick Frizzell: Portrait of a Serious Artiste

15 March - 11 May 1997 in the Entire Gallery
Dick Frizzell has been an integral figure in the New Zealand art world for over twenty years and has produced a rich and fascinating body of work. His career is marked by a diversity of styles, as he embraces, and affectionately parodies, the languages and genres of art and popular culture. Frizzell imbues each work with his own unique vision. As such he is one of this country’s most fascinating and complex artists, always changing, always moving, always surprising.

This survey exhibition, which includes a major catalogue, presents work from the years 1975-1995 and addresses Frizzell’s key themes, motifs, styles and tactics.
