In Home is where we start from Rhodes presents an exhibition which explores ideas about childhood, motherhood and the process of growing up and discovering oneself as an individual. In one part of the exhibition, objects from her childhood – kitchen shelving units, drawers and a school desk – are swaddled and stitched with scarlet woollen blankets. In another, a wall hanging is made up of fabric strips embroidered with the phrases ‘blood sweat tears’ and ‘you are my sunshine’. In the third section of the exhibition, piles of freshly-laundered sheets are neatly lined up along the gallery wall. A video projection plays over them, turning the domestic act of folding sheets into a graceful choreography.
