Place: A User's Manual Jeffrey Shaw

26 June - 3 October 1999 in the Entire Gallery
Jeffrey Shaw is known for this work which was seen at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam as part of The World Over in 1996. This exhibition was a cutting-edge, computer-aided collaboration between City Gallery Wellington and the Stedelijk Museum.

Shaw’s installation pieces take still and moving image photography to new levels, reaching towards the realm of computer simulation and virtual reality. In Place: A User’s Manual this translates into a living video game experience for the viewer; through the use of projected images, microphones and rotating platforms they become part of a fantastic computerised environment.

Place: A User’s Manual by Jeffrey Shaw is presented at City Gallery Wellington in association with Professor Hans-Peter Schwarz, Director of ZKM (the Centre for Art and Modern Technology), Karlsruhe.
