The Hirshfeld Gallery is Wellington’s space dedicated to exhibiting work by Wellington-based artists and designers. Exhibitions in the Hirschfeld Gallery focus on current work and cross many art forms including painting, sculpture and photography, mixed media, video, architecture, fashion design, furniture design, jewellery and graphic design. With a programme of eight exhibitions each year, there’s always something new and fresh to be seen.
The Hirschfeld Gallery was established in 1999 to honour the memory of Hirschfeld and recognise his extraordinary contribution to the arts and commitment to City Gallery Wellington. The original Hirschfeld Gallery was downstairs; the current space was opened in 2009, marking 10 years since the first opening.
