A temporary reference library inhabits the gallery for the season, as part of an exhibition based on print material. A Mobile Library offers up for use a selection of artists’ books and small press publications sourced from local private collections, alongside typographic design by Wellington type designers Kris Sowersby (in collaboration with Duncan Forbes) and Joseph Churchward.

Ara-i-te-uru is a major new sculptural installation by artist Israel Tangaroa Birch which reflects on some of the powerhouse collaborations between Ralph Hotere and Bill Culbert such as Aramoana–Pathway to the Sea (1991) and Blackwater (1999). Birch takes Māori ideas of light and shadow to explore relationships between things in the physical world of te ao mārama (the world of light) and their metaphysical counterparts in te pō (the world of darkness).
