Raymond Spiteri teaches art history at Victoria University of Wellington. His research and publications focus on the interface of culture and politics in the history of surrealism. In 2015, he contributed two essays on surrealism and the Situationist International to Aesthetic Revolutions and Twentieth-Century Avant-Garde Movements (Duke University Press), and in 2013 contributed a chapter on surrealist journals to Modernist Magazines: A Critical and Cultural History. His current research is focused on surrealism and modernism circa 1930.
