Palestinian artist and gallerist Khaled Hourani had a dream: to borrow a modernist masterpiece — Pablo Picasso’s Buste de Femme (1943), from Eindhoven’s Van Abbemuseum — and show it in the International Academy of Art in Ramallah. Given the limitations on Palestinian sovereignty, what would have otherwise been a straightforward museum loan took on a political, diplomatic and military character, in the process illuminating the reality of life under occupation. The exhibition took place in 2011. This film tells the story.
