This touring exhibition, from Sydney's Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, presents three artists with a regional sense of place. South of No North is part of a series of MCA exhibitions that present an Australian artist alongside international peers, positioning them in a global dialogue. Australian artist Noel McKenna chose to show with two photographers: William Eggleston, who lives in Memphis, Tennessee, in the American south, and Laurence Aberhart, who lives in Russell, in New Zealand's North Island. The artists have a common literary sensibility. They record aspects of the built environment and human interactions that evince a particular pathos.
