ANZ Family Day, April 2016

It was fantastic to see City Gallery buzzing with over 900 visitors enjoying our first action-packed ANZ Family Day on Saturday 16 April.

The kids tours of Bullet Time were very popular—and children loved the short film programme presented by Square Eyes Film Foundation in the Auditorium.

Lots of fun was had in front of our distortion mirror and the flipbook activity in the Reading Room was packed with creative kids and parents making fun animations all day.

Take a look at the green screen Collective Time-Lapse made possible by The Amazing Travelling Photobooth. It was a great success with 90 families relishing the opportunity to take part in creating it.

We were delighted to be able to launch our new LOOk! Art Cart too. Funded by the Wellington Community Trust, designed by Mary Daish and built by Workshop E—it is a beautiful addition to the Gallery with a fresh supply of LOOk! Art Activity Cards and coloured pencils and it's now available in the foyer for families to use whenever they visit.

With over 70 fabulous entries in the LOOk! drawing competition from children aged 2 – 13 years, it was a tricky task to select just four winners. Congratulations to Ansleigh age 11, Sofyia age 8, Eilah age 7, and Lucia age 4. Each receive an Art Activity Book and coloured pencils for their unique and creative family portrait drawings. Please see winning entries below.

We had so much positive feedback from everyone who came - and look forward to seeing you all at the next Family Day in June.
