City Gallery Wellington announces spectacular late night event
City Gallery Wellington is excited to announce the next in its series of regular late night events, Out in the Gallery. Taking place on Friday 18 March 6pm–9:30pm, this will be an action-packed night of dance, art, music and comedy which will fill the gallery’s spaces with activity, light and life.
Out in the Gallery is held in association with the 2nd Asia Pacific Out Games and the Deane Gallery’s current exhibition Mana Takatāpui: Taera Tāne (29 January–10 April). The entire gallery will be open from 6pm, and from 7pm the gallery spaces will be activated by contemporary dancers performing the choreography of renowned performer, Moana Nepia.
City Gallery has also been working with artists Dan Taulapapa-McMullin and Richard Kereopa, whose works are currently on display in the Deane Gallery. These two artists will present lively spoken word performances of poetry and other writing, touching on the issues of gay and takatāpui communities.
The evening will finish with a flourish with performances from former Drag Kings P. Lump, Emma-Nem, Georgie Boy and a special DJ set by DJ Bullitt.
As with other Open City events, all the galleries will be open late for guests to enjoy the exhibitions and Nikau café will provide a cash bar. Entry is $6 for adults and $4 for concession, which also provides entry into Crown Lynn: Crockery of Distinction.
