Screen printed letters inspired by Sister Corita Kent

'Nothing is a mistake. There’s no win and no fail. There’s only make,' Sister Corita.

This student workshop was inspired by our exhibition Sister Corita’s Summer of Love. Sister Corita Kent (1918-1986) was a Roman catholic nun and a pop artist renowned for her brightly coloured typographic prints. In the workshop students made their own layered screenprints, discovering Sister Corita’s inspirational messages of peace, love and hope. Students learned innovative ways to combine and layer colours, shapes and fonts. They created dynamic compositions exploring positive and negative space by combining collaged paper and screenprinting processes.
