'What belongs where? is a question that often underpins my work … expressed by bringing together specific objects or texts that might not usually belong together.'
This student workshop was inspired by the exhibition Containing Multitudes by Zac Langdon-Pole, a young Berlin-based New Zealand artist. His puzzling works traverse all manner of topics, joining disparate things and images together to form new objects and associations. Students enjoyed exploring Langdon-Pole’s surprising juxtapositions and discussed ideas about the numerous possible connections he might be making. They then created their own unlikely connections by placing together fragments of unrelated images and objects on light-sensitive paper, capturing their novel creations in a cyanotype blueprint image.
