Term 1 begins with Meditations, an exhibition of soil, oneone (sand), whenua, stone, language and light. Ākonga explore how art can articulate their whakapapa links to the whenua. The hands-on experience follows a ‘from-the-earth, back-to-the-earth’ approach to materials and making.
From March 18, the evocative photography of two prominent contemporary wahine Māori artists will help your ākonga to view the whenua and landscape from their own place of standing. Ākonga use hands-on activities to connect to the photography and story their own relationship to the whenua.
