In Transit Tour and Sculpture Workshop

Until 24 March 2019

Lines on the Move

Yona Lee makes large, maze-like installations. Join us to discover a network of rails that snake though the Gallery—hundreds of metres of stainless-steel pipe that have been cut and welded to form elaborate linear structures. In the global cities of the 21st century, rapid transit systems whisk us through many kinds of spaces at speed. This work, made from fixtures and fittings that track across bus stops, airports, train stations and stairwells, considers the journeys we make and the experience of being in motion.

Students will take part in a range of activities to take lines on a journey. They’ll create their own 2D and 3D networks, and experiment with construction techniques to form maze-like temporary structures.
