This is the second in a series of three Contemporary Art Night classes on artist Cindy Sherman.
Cindy Sherman: Appropriator and Appropriated
Enjoy a crash course on Cindy Sherman with a lecture from City Gallery Wellington Curator Aaron Lister.
Sherman refigures tropes and types from art history, magazines, fashion, film and television. Her work, in turn, has been absorbed back into culture in equally myriad ways. Lister considers Sherman’s use of her sources and the ways contemporary art and culture have returned her gaze.
