Cindy Sherman in Context: 1970s–90s
Enjoy a crash course on Cindy Sherman with a lecture from Massey University's Heather Galbraith. Galbraith introduces Cindy Sherman with a lively image-based lecture, addressing the New York art scene, the influential Pictures Generation and other groundbreaking female artists of the time.
About Heather Galbraith
Currently Associate Professor at Whiti o Rehua School of Art, College of Creative Arts Toi Rauwharangi, Massey University Wellington, Galbraith has held senior curatorial and management positions at St Paul ST, AUT University, City Gallery Wellington and Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. She was Head of School at Whiti o Rehua for four years and now combines MFA and PhD supervision and special projects with bringing up her daughter. Galbraith was appointed to New Zealand at the Venice Biennale project over three cycles: in 2009 as Curator and Deputy Commissioner, 2013 as Deputy Commissioner and 2015 as Commissioner.
