Join us for a day of fun and creativity for the whole whānau.
Come to City Gallery Wellington and discover art activities, encounters and pop-ups.
Kids Rave 11am: Come together to cut some shapes, we’re kicking off Family Day with a rave! Get your energy and creativity flowing with music from Bangerz for Bubs.
Instrument Making (drop-in): Drop in and join our instrument making activity. Work with us to create paper trumpets, rainmakers, and more. Give voice to your creativity with your very own sound.
Rainbow Etching (drop-in): What lies beneath the surface and your imagination? Your dark, blank page is all possibilities! Scratch away your design to reveal hidden colour and brightness.
Art Encounter 11.45am & 2pm: Become an art explorer by joining one our tour guides to look closely at one artwork. Encounter art together as we tell stories about, ask questions, and look to discover more.
Children's Tour 12.30pm: Join us for this very special tour of Reuben Paterson: The Only Dream Left and see what other children think about the artworks he’s created.
Storytime 1.15pm: Get comfortable and cosy under The Golden Bearing and listen to some of our favourite stories.
Improv Storytime 2.30pm: There are hidden stories everywhere in the Gallery and it’s up to you to tell them in this fun, improvised adventure. Look together with our storytellers and help an artwork come to life.
Kids Relaxing Soundscape 3.15pm: End your Family Day by bathing in a soothing soundscape with Bangerz for Bubz. After a day of making and fun, enjoy this gentle session to pull your creativity back to you and re-energise.
