The everyday is reconsidered. Look, and think again. These are some responses to the artworks currently exhibited in Glen Hayward: Wish You Were Here and Tilia
Though different in how they make artwork and exhibitions, artists Glen Hayward and Dayle Palfreyman share and explore ideas of space, object, encounter, and experience in their practices. Join us for this conversation where both artists will explore these common threads and discuss their thinking and processes.
Dayle Palfreyman is based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara and completed their Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours from Massey University in 2020. Palfreyman predominantly works in sculpture and installation working with natural and industrial materials. Their work raises questions about bodily autonomy, and psychological encounters within subject, object, and abject relationships relating to semiotics.
Glen Hayward is a New Zealand artist known for his sculptures of everyday, mass-produced items. Carved from wood and painted exactly as they were as found objects, they masquerade as the real.
