Once upon a Book: Holiday Movies for Kids Week One

Monday 8 - Friday 12 July, 11am

Free film screenings for kids every weekday during the July school holidays. Presented in partnership with Square Eyes Film Foundation.

These July school holidays we're delighted to share a collection of films based on much-loved books. Come and join us for ten page-to-screen adaptations and see your favourite literary pals and worlds up on the big screen.

Week one offers titles best suited for our youngest friends with week two offering films for slightly older kiddos.

All sessions are free, no bookings. We recommend arriving early to secure your seat. Doors open 10.45am for 11am sessions this week (the Gallery opens at 10am).

Week one (July 8–12) screenings start 11am, best suited for age 4+.

Week two (July 15–19) screenings start 2pm, best suited for age 8+.

Monday 8 July, 11am | The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child
His eyes are orange, his tongue is black, he has purple prickles all over his back—and he's having his twentieth birthday this year! Not one but two award-winning, animated films starring the Gruffalo, based on the classic children's picture books written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.

Tuesday 9 July, 11am | Alice in Wonderland
Lewis Carroll's much-loved fantasy tale is brought to life in this Disney animated classic. When Alice falls down a rabbit hole, she encounters an odd assortment of characters, including the grinning Cheshire Cat, the goofy Mad Hatter, and the tyrannical Queen of Hearts.

Wednesday 10 July, 11am | Lost & Found and The Lost Thing
