Pascal Harris: Opening Day Performance

Saturday 1 October, 1.30pm

City Gallery Wellington is excited to present a very special performance as part of the opening day celebrations of Joanna Margaret Paul: Imagined in the Context of a Room.

For this occasion, we are delighted to bring together Pascal Harris, Joanna’s youngest son, and a harpsichord painted by Joanna, familiar to many from the work of the late Rose Beauchamp. With the special resonance of this instrument and surrounded by Joanna’s works, Pascal will perform an hour-long concert of works by Bach.

Pascal’s has been called ‘a force of nature’ and his performances have been praised for their emotional intensity. This will be a unique experience not to be missed.

Thanks to the Wedde Family for the loan of the instrument.

Pascal Harris was born in Dunedin, the youngest son of artists Joanna Margaret Paul and Jeffrey Harris. He has been absorbed in music from a young age and is a graduate of the University of Otago and the Royal College of Music, London. He is a recipient of a number of awards and scholarships and has performed and taught nationally and internationally. He has recently released his second CD of Mozart’s Sonatas. Pascal's closest affinity is with the German Classical-Romantic repertoire. Currently based in Auckland he hopes to continue his career in Europe soon.
