Rainbow Our Public Spaces

Sunday 23 June, 1pm

The public spaces in and around Civic Square have played a significant part in Takatāpui Rainbow+ history.  From the first public meeting to form the Homosexual Law Reform Society in what is now City Gallery Wellington, to some of the Devotion parties in the 1990s, to the annual community fair, to 4,000+ people filling Civic Square in support of Trans rights.

Join the team from PrideNZ for a special 1-hour audio-visual presentation highlighting both large and small moments in these public spaces over the last sixty-years that have impacted and/or uplifted Takatāpui Rainbow+ communities.

During 2024, PrideNZ is collaborating with City Gallery Wellington to present four free programmes in the Adam Auditorium highlighting Aotearoa’s rich Takatāpui Rainbow+ heritage.
