The City Gallery Book Club returns for Tuatara Open Late’s fifth birthday. Host Pip Adam is joined by writers Elizabeth Knox, Gregory Kan, and Whiti Hereaka. This month’s sci-fi reading list is inspired by our exhibition Semiconductor: The Technological Sublime:
Elizabeth Knox has written twelve novels, three novellas, and a book of essays. Her work has been translated into ten languages. Her last book was the horror/sci-fi Wake. Her next is The Absolute Book, to be released in September.
Gregory Kan is a writer and programmer. His poetry books, This Paper Boat (2016) and Under Glass (2019), were published by Auckland University Press. His poetry and essays have featured in exhibitions and publications across New Zealand.
Whiti Hereaka is an award-winning novelist and playwright of Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Te Arawa, and Pākehā descent. A graduate of the IIML, she is the author of three novels: The Graphologist’s Apprentice, the award-winning YA novel Bugs, and Legacy. With Witi Ihimaera, she edited Purakau, an anthology of Māori myths.
