Art, music, film, talks, beer, wine, and food. A changing programme of late-night events on the first Thursday of the month.

This month is your last chance to explore our summer season with an after-hours exhibition tour.

Pip Adam and the City Gallery Book Club return with a reading list inspired by Encounter 1. Our panellists include Arini Loader (Lecturer and filmmaker), Rajorshi Chakraborti (novelist, essayist, and short-story writer), and Claire Mabey (Director of Lit Crawl and one half of Pirate and Queen). They will be discussing:

  • The Imaginary Lives of James Pōneke Tina Makereti
  • Sport 47 edited by Tayi Tibble
  • The Story of a New Zealand River Jane Mander
  • The Piano directed by Jane Campion

Plus, a live performance from violinist and composer Motte. Having recently toured with Nadia Reid, David Kilgour, Lawrence Arabia and Delaney Davidson, Motte returns to Wellington with her unique experimental pop sound.

As always, our bar and galleries open at 5pm, there will be supper treats available for purchase from Mao & Co, Tuatara beers,  Seresin Estate wine, and sounds from a RadioActive DJ.

TIMETABLE:

From 5pm: Exhibitions open, music from RadioActive DJ, cash bar, and dinner treats from Mao & Co.

6pm: Exhibition Tour

7pm: City Gallery Book Club

8.45pm: Motte performs live
