Tuatara Open Late

Thursday 3 November

Stay up late with City Gallery Wellington and enjoy our changing programme of art, music, film, and talks.

This month we’re taking people out of the picture with a focus on Josh Azzarella, and putting them back in with life drawing and a deep dive into Joanna Margaret Paul.

Join exhibiting artist Josh Azzarella in conversation with ‘Curator of Screams’ Aaron Lister and Dr Chelsea Nichols as they uncover his work and practice. Expect to be taken beyond the films you remember as they explore the strange relationship between film, time and memory.

Don't miss DJs Ludus, Nasveck and Alphabethead, as they present sonic responses to the works of Josh Azzarella. Journey through ambient and hauntological, sample-based music, remix, and live rescoring as part of these sets.

Through out the evening, drop in, grab a stool, and observe our models as they strike curious poses for you. Practice your sketching skills in this relaxed drawing encounter, with a drink in hand if you choose.

Take a journey with one of our guides through Joanna Margaret Paul's exploration of domestic life. Imagined in the Context of a Room displays Paul’s painting, drawings, poetry, photography and experimental film work, spanning her remarkable 30-year career from the 1970s to the 2000s.

As always, our bar, shop and galleries open at 5pm. There will be Tuatara beers, delicious wine, and Taco Addicts food truck.
