Tuatara Open Late

Thursday 2 February, 5pm-10pm

Stay up late with City Gallery Wellington! Every month enjoy a changing programme of art, music, film, and talks. The first Thursday of the month we Open Late.

For February enjoy a long summer night as we celebrate the life and work of Joanna Margaret Paul with pencils and poets, reading and live music.

Poets Jenny Bornholdt, Rebecca Hawkes, Jo Bragg and Khadro Mohamed will be performing in the galleries throughout the evening. Reflecting on and responding to Joanna’s artwork and practice, the legacy of words and their power to excite and ignite will be brought into the exhibition.

City Gallery Wellington’s occasional book club returns this month. Chair Maggie Tweedie will discuss books that capture the confluence of beauty, art and life with writer Linda Burgess and poet, writer and musician Dick Whyte.

Be captivated by Pōneke based music trio Ida Lune. Each member brings their contrasting backgrounds in jazz, classical and electronic music to produce evocative and colourful compositions that are not to be missed.

Throughout the evening, take a step outside the gallery walls and take part in our 'en plein air' drawing activity. Find a view in or from Te Ngākau Civic Square that inspires you to make your own art.

All this along with our regular fixtures; Tuatara beers, delicious wine, IndoPLUS food truck and sounds from RadioActive.
