Stay up late with City Gallery Wellington! Enjoy our changing programme of art, music, film, and talks on the first Thursday of every month.
Spend a night amongst the world-bending practice of Reuben Paterson for May Open Late.
Take a closer look at Reuben Paterson’s David (2012) with Art Encounter. One of several glittering creatures who have found a niche habitat in The Only Dream Left, come face-to-face with our resident bear and hear the many worlds he might be found to roam.
Throughout the evening, bend and fracture the Gallery by borrowing a polaroid camera and prism. Through this fractured perspective see the exhibition with fresh eyes. What reflections can be found in the ambient world you capture?
Hear from invited experts as they respond to the ideas and themes of The Only Dream Left. Reflecting on the artwork through the lens of their own perspectives and experience uncover the layered and complex stories woven into Paterson's works.
To end your evening, join us for a live music performance by Miss Leading. Her live performances are like nothing you have ever seen before, blending upbeat melodic synth lines with intricate percussion, poetry and sultry singing. Miss Leading aims to get your mind thinking and your body moving.
All this along with our regular fixtures; Tuatara beers, delicious wine, food truck and sounds from a RadioActive DJ.
