The Winter Sessions is a series of three unique music events held within the spaces of City Gallery Wellington and guest curated by Graham Frost. Graham is a freelance curator and art researcher in the fields of Live Art, Performance and Photography.
Described as “gorgeously evocative” by Melody Thomas for Capital Magazine, the music of Dawn Diver is drawn from the depths of waking dreams. Led by multi-instrumentalist Ben Lemi (Trinity Roots, Bret McKenzie, Estère) Dawn Diver have been steadily attracting fans for their surrealist-soul-inflected performances and sonic journeys. For this intimate Gallery performance, a trio iteration with band members Deanne Krieg and Rose Blake will allow intricate vocal harmonies and nuanced narratives to shine through.
Deanne Krieg has had various musical outputs over the years, from performing in the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra, as a touring member of Trinity Roots, and as a featured vocalist for electronic project Pacific Heights. Deanne’s solo project WHIM brings together elements of minimal electronica and experimental pop showcasing her stunning vocal work and versatility as a producer.
Rose Blake is one third of the spellbinding chamber-folk trio Ida Lune. Blake’s prowess as a vocalist can also be explored via her solo project Blaek. Her self titled EP employs a beautiful amalgamation of acoustic instruments and electronic sounds to form a unique foundation for Blake’s delicate lyricism.
