Cuba Street Carnival celebrates Wellington’s diverse cultures and creativity, with art, performances, and films, stalls and food. It brings photographers out in force. A competition to find the best photos taken during the 2007 Carnival attracts 236 entries. The winner is Jeremy Blincoe. Michelle Queks’s The Red Hot Bitches comes second, and Linda Strand’s Cuba Street Carnival Whopper-Chopper Performer third. Christine Laven and Neil Price are runners-up. The judges are photographer Ans Westra, curator Luit Bieringa, Michael Hirschfeld Gallery Curator Jessica Reid, the Carnival's official photographer Robert Catto, and Carnival Founder and Artistic Director Chris Morley-Hall.
