This show explores multiple possibilities for living in communities, both human and non-human. Wayne Barrar’s photographs examine the damage caused by the introduction of Koi carp into New Zealand waterways. Rob Cherry’s A Beautiful Day for Walking Away traces a line around the perimeter of the gallery using plastic litter found on Evans Bay beach. Jenny Gillam’s In Search of Self-Perception is a vivarium housing a community of stick insects, collected, nurtured, and closely observed by the artist. Andy Palmer’s photographs depict the same view of the Community Gardens at Tanera Park as this environment changed and developed over fifteen months.
