ARTISTS Caroline McQuarrie, Genevieve Packer
Wellington artists Caroline McQuarrie and Genevieve Packer both investigate our investment in everyday display objects, addressing the way we craft our personal and collective narratives. In McQuarrie’s works, family images and familiar objects are ‘crafted’, suggesting both the intimacy and the violence of craft processes. Her lacemaking and needlework pieces draw on associations with social etiquette and propriety. In Packer’s works, nostalgic motifs become objects to wear or to display.
