In this mischievous installation, Lauren Lysaght reimagines her grandmother Nita Gini’s collection of Crown Lynn ceramics. Shapes and forms familiar to many New Zealanders are reconstructed using cardboard, plaster of Paris, and other materials. The objects are placed on plinths made of kitschy materials—fake leopard skin and wood veneer. Lysaght renders objects often deemed precious in a vulgar, indomitably homemade aesthetic.
