An incomplete dome constructed from pencil leads, Wellington artist Peter Trevelyan’s The Light Fantastic is both a drawing and a sculpture. It is built up from hundreds of equilateral triangles, a shape often used in making building supports, like trusses. The Light Fantastic recalls a long history of artists, architects, and utopian thinkers drawn to the dome as a fusion of function and fantasy. Alongside the sculpture, a series of photograms documents its creation.
