Join us for a series of Sunday film screenings in January selected by Senior Curator Aaron Lister for their resonance with Hilma af Klint: The Secret Paintings.
Personal Shopper explores film’s capacity to represent the invisible and move between the physical and spiritual worlds. Maureen is a medium seeking signs from the afterlife. She finds a guide in Hilma af Klint, who a century earlier pursued the mediumistic possibilities of painting. Directed by Olivier Assayas, the film attempts to pick up where af Klint’s paintings leave off.
